BENIN CITY- The Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Edo State has directed all members of Staff of the state Judiciary to report for work on Monday May 18, 2015 unfailingly.
A statement by Isaac Sam for Secretary to the Commission indicated that any staff of the Judiciary who fails to report for work by the close of work on the said day should consider him/herself to have been dismissed from service thereafter.
For the avoidance of doubt according to the statement, their security is assured as nobody would be allowed to be molested by some persons with untoward behaviour.
The statement recalled that members of the state Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have been on strike since January 5, 2015.
According to the statement, the issue which occasioned the strike (financial autonomy) for Judiciary was to be resolved by JSC in consultation with Governor Adams Oshiomhole  but for the stand of JOSUN executive.
The statement also indicated that JOSUN executive members were informed of the development at the commission’s meeting of March 11, 2015 with members of JOSUN.
“The executive was also informed that the issue of staff outstanding salary during the strike would be vigorously pursued by JSC on the understanding that JOSUN would call off the strike in line with the appeal made to them at the said meeting.
“On Monday, the 23rd day of March, 2015, the JSC also met with the executive members of JOSUN to renew its appeal for them to call off the strike so as to pave way for the implementation of the financial autonomy and other issues concerning the running of the court and welfare of staff. This appeal was bluntly refused or jettisoned by JOSUN”, the statement added.
