BENIN CITY – The Evboriaria Volunteers for Excellence (EVFE), a Non-Governmental Organization geared towards ensuring an egalitarian society has expressed worry over the recent secret cult activities that have claimed several lives, including two mothers in the Benin City.
The EVFE in a release signed by its coordinator and secretary Okoh Stanley and Osaretin Igbineweka respectively, noted that Benin City has been locked down as a result of clashes between two rival cult groups leading to the killing of not less than 25 persons since the cult over erupted.
The body which described as embarrassment to the people of Edo State and the nation at large, cited unemployment as one of the reasons for the restiveness in the society.
It also cited idleness and poverty as one of the major causes of youth engaging in social vices.
While calling on the government to look inward with a view to creating job opportunities for the teeming youths, the EVFE however, appealed to the warring factions to sheathe their swords and end the fracas for the sake of peace, unity, stability, progress and development of the state.
The body used the opportunity to enjoin artisans in the state to be more focused and committed to their business and not be distracted by happenings in the state.
