BENIN CITY – Inspite of the continuous rejection and wide spread campaign against the taboolous, unnatural and lawful act of gay relationship in Nigeria, the nefarious act has continued unabated, especially within the youths.
It has been reported that one Osamuyi Nelson Solomon, an orphan about 30 is now on the run, after he successfully escaped by the whiskers being lynched in a mob action few days ago in a guest house, (name withheld) along Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City.
According to our crime reporter, some angry youths (area boys) within the area, armed with dangerous weapons acting on a tip off, swooped on the guest house in the wee-hours of the day on sunday to find the gay lovers, Osamuyi Solomon and Collins Ode in the illicit action. They were both attacked, beaten to a pulp. But in the ensuring melee, Osamuyi succeeded in escaping, before the arrival of the police while Collins was whisked away unconscious by to the police.
It was also revealed on investigation that Collins Ode died in the police custody due to the merciless beating he received from the mob attack, while the police is in a manhunt for Osamuyi. An anonymous police source from Ugbekun police Division in Upper Sakponba has said that the police is in a manhunt for the fleeing Osamuyi Solomon to face the wrath of the legal and traditional laws.
The angry youths of Oka community and the elders council have also vowed to get the escapee Osamuyi anywhere in the country dead or alive. The spokesman of the community, who wouldn’t want his name in print, said they will fish him out, wherever he maybe to face the traditional death penalty for defying their land.
It was also reliably gathered that the relations of the late Collins Ode on hearing that Osamuyi was sighted one might in his uncle’s place at Amagba village near Benin, mobilized thugs fully armed to the place but to no avail, he was no longer there.  A source from the village also revealed that the angry mobs are still around the village till now in search of Osamuyi  day and night and that everybody are now living in perpetual fear, while some youths close to Osamuyi have even fled to town for fear of being attacked and killed.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), of Ugbekun Police Division was said to be away for a meeting. But a Police source, who wouldn’t want his identity revealed because he is not competent authorized to speak on the matter however confirmed the story, saying that the Police have spread out their drag net to trap the fleeing Osamuyi Solomon and that a price tag has even been placed on any successful informant that can lead to his arrest.
