WHEN God decides to honour a man after His heart even his enemies have no option than to bow to God’s will (Esther 6:7-14). Despite the hatred of Joseph’s brothers and their refusal to honour him at home in their father’s house, they were compelled to bow before him in a foreign land of Egypt. For I know that the Lord is great and our Lord is above all gods.
The selection in the house of Jesse for the kingship of Israel favoured David because that was the arrangement of God. God took David to the bush to learn how to take care of the sheep (people), trained him on how to defend the sheep against the lion and the bear and to provide food for the sheep
“And I know thy work, behold I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it, behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan-to bow before thy feet and to know that I have loved thee”. Hence, the election of Prince Hon (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri and his subsequent swearing-in by the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on April 22nd, 2013 as the first Auchi indigene to be elected as the executive chairman of Etsako West local government area of Edo state since its creation is an historical event in the lives of the people and Divine arrangement by God Himself. So, the development in Etsako West Local government Area has God’s hand in it. We should only pray for Divine guidance for no man born of a woman can stop the will of God.
Prince Hon. (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri having known the task and challenges ahead of his election, has constantly kept to his electioneering promises made to the people of the entire local government as his developmental projects cut across the nooks and crannies of the locality.
In fact, Prince Hon. (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri is one of the local government chairmen in Edo state if not in the country who believes that a labourer deserves his wages/salary, hence, he ensures that salaries are paid as and when due without unnecessary delay, unlike some of his colleagues who owe their staff/workers more than two-three months salaries.
It will be immodest if I fail to mention some of the notable numerous projects executed by the chairman within his two years of stewardship as the executive chairman of the council. Among these are the ongoing reconstructions of the I.C.E road which has almost become impossible for motorists to ply/use, the ongoing reconstruction of Momoh Street, completion and commissioning of the new office building at the council, sinking of bore holes at Jattu, Ugbenor, Ayogweri and at the council premise, completion of three block of classrooms at Etsako West primary sch., Uchi, Utsogun Omobgai, Udegu and Uluku all with headmaster’s office.
Others are 24 luck-up stores at South-Ibie, Agbede market, and a modern new abattoir at Jattu, new library at Ughiole primary sch., and traditional council meeting hall at the council. etc.
In the area of security, it is natural that no lofty project can thrive or blossom in the absence of security, little wonder that this crucial element is necessary in the development of any state or local government. Prince Kadiri considered this as being essentially strategic in the faithful implementation of his program in the local government. As a result of this peaceful environment being enjoyed by the people, the local government headquarters is witnessing massive private establishments that can as well employ some youths from the locality.
In recognition of these laudable projects executed in the local government history making chairman, Prince Hon (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri was turbaned by the Otaru of Auchi, Ikelebe 111, HRM H.A Momoh as the Dunia of Auchi Kingdom, one of the highest titles in the land.
It is also worthy of note that in the life of a people, there is always a time when pragmatic leadership is really an astounding requirement of societal transformation, devoid of revolutionary rhetoric but based on a prolific blue-print outlined, which underscores the imperativeness of impacting the lives of the people positively in the local government.
In Plutarch’s great biography of Cato the Elder, he wrote “Rome showed itself to be truly great, and hence worthy of great leaders” Correspondingly in our contemporary political setting, this timeless piece aptly applies to Etsako West local government area as it is endowed with the prospects of greatness and a coterie of great leaders like prince (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri. The attainment of greatness by any state or local government depends largely on the caliber of available leadership. In other words, a leadership that takes in-depth introspection to fashion out a productive outline, taking into consideration the hitherto deficient critical sectors and its stagnating consequences on the overall welfare of the people.
Prince (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri, a frontline politician and chairman, Etsako West local government Area of Edo State is seen as a paragon of this pragmatic approach to governance, considering his realistic and holistic programs, articulated for the provision of social infrastructures, covering health care and road rehabilitation.
Within the last two years in office, Prince Hon. (Barr.) Kadiri has demonstrated that electing him as the chairman of the local government was not a mistake by the people as he has carefully executed people oriented projects in the local government.
It is also pertinent to note that jobs creation, skill acquisition and women empowerment which had been recurring decimals in various governments’ programmes were adequately captured within the period under review for according to him, “one of the immediate effects of our investments in infrastructural development was the creation of thousands of jobs for youths and women empowerment through skill acquisitions in the local government”.
In summary, it suffices to posit that the faithful implementation of this lofty program and projects depends on a leader endowed with resolute, futuristic and focused perspective and a robust pedigree of impressive track record who had demonstrated a desirable competence in cost-efficient qualitative and quantitative service delivery. Of great importance are active and functional peace, promotion and dimensional inclusiveness while carrying all stakeholders along in the scheme of things
Despite the challenges being faced in recent time, Prince Hon. (Barr.) Hassan Kadiri appreciated the good people of the local government especially the leaders of the great party APC and youths in the local government for their understanding throughout this period. He constantly reassures the people that he will deliver the dividends of democracy to them while promising to complete ongoing projects before the end of his administration.
As the amiable chairman, Etsako West local government, Prince Hon Barr. Hassan Kadiri celebrate his two years in office on April 22nd , 2015, I joined millions of friends to say congratulations and wishing him more successful days ahead of the remaining period of his tenure.
