ILE-IFE – No fewer than 44, 265 children of five years and below, were immunised against poliomyelitis and other children killer diseases in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun during this year’s second round of National Immunisation Days Programme.
Mrs Foluke Olawoyin, the Council’s Local Immunisation Officer (LIO), told newsmen in Ile-Ife that 11 wards, were covered within four days.
She said that government had made provision for some nursing mothers whose babies were yet to complete other vaccines.
Olawoyin listed the other vaccines as Pentavalent, Hepatitis B Vaccines (HBV), Yellow Fever Vaccines, Measles and Tetanus Toxoid (TT), among others.
According to her, the oral vaccines are safe and have no adverse effect on children.
She, therefore, advised nursing mothers to always cooperate with the government, by immunizing their children to protect them from silent killer diseases.
