Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has insisted that head coach Luis Enrique will not be leaving the club this summer.
The 45-year-old replaced Gerardo Martino at the helm after an unsuccessful 2013-14 campaign for the Catalans but initially struggled to make his mark at Camp and appeared to be facing the sack after falling out with star player Lionel Messi midway through the season.
Luis Enrique managed to turn things around, though, and was rewarded with the Liga title on Sunday following Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, while they still have every chance of winning the treble.
“He has an ongoing contract, end of debate,” Bartomeu was quoted as saying by Marca.
“We are presently focussed on the competitions we are in. Luis Enrique’s future is not something that we talk about.
“This is everyone’s success. The players’, the coach’s. They do a magnificent job every week.
“La Liga was the main objective of the season. Now we look to the second one, the Copa del Rey.
“Next year there will be other challenges.”
Barcelona meet Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final on May 30 before taking on Juventus in the Champions League showpiece in Berlin on June 6.
