Manchester City are set to tempt Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba with a monster pay packet; Chelsea are favourites to land Atletico Madrid’s Koke; West Brom are hoping to pinch Scott Sinclair from under Villa’s nose – the top stories from Monday’s papers.
Man City ready to spend absurd money on Pogba – Manchester City are preparing a £70 million bid for Paul Pogba, according to The Star. But that’s not as startling as their plans to offer the midfielder £250,000-per-week after tax. That would make Pogba the highest paid midfielder in the world and give City a chance to beat Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG for the Juventus man.
Paper Round’s view – Juventus insist that they will not sell Pogba this summer, and it’s possible they may not, but they probably won’t have a choice if someone puts £70 million in front of them and £250,000-per-week in front of the midfielder. That’s the kind of money that Juve will struggle to say no to and Pogba will push them to accept. But Man City would have to get rid of Yaya Toure, plus several other players, if they want to throw down that money on Pogba and not violate Financial Fair Play.
