NIGERIAN striker Obafemi Martins has been ruled out of Seattle Sounders’ MLS match against Sporting Kansas City this weekend.
Sounders coach Sigi Schmid confirmed that the former Super Eagles star is recuperating from injury but is not ready for action.
“Probably (he) looks unlikely for this weekend,” Schmid said.
“He’s in the gym and working, but can’t get on the field yet.”
Martins missed Saturday’s 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps due to a “tibial contusion”. He trained separately on Monday but has since returned to training with the rest of the Sounders team.
The former Levante and Inter Milan forward has scored six goals this season.
