IKEJA – The National Aeronautical Information Service Association of Nigeria (AISAN) has said implementation of Radio Navigation (RNAV) system has changed the role of Aeronautical Information data application in the country.
This is contained in a statement signed by AISAN President, Mr. Babatunde Shittu, and made available to newsmen in Lagos.
According to him, the RNAV is an airborne computer-based data-dependent navigation system with aeronautical data forming a critical component of the system.
He stressed the importance and need for the completion of the Aeronautical Information Radio Navigation Implementation has helped to boost AIS data – AISAN
Shittu also noted that the International Civil Aviation Organisation had developed a roadmap to reflect the importance of the transition of AIS to Air Traffic Management.
“There is currently a global drive to accommodate the rapid changes in the role of AIS for more efficiency.
“This involves a shift away from manual-based services to digital-based services,’’ the association’s president was quoted as saying.
