GOALS from Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Neymar were all the Spaniards needed to edge past Massimiliano Allegri’s men in a keenly contested final.
According to Adepoju, who was nicknamed Headmaster in his playing days said Luis Enrique’s side were outstanding, thus deserved the victory.
“I had thought it was going to be a tough game for Barcelona, but at the end of the day they carried the day. Everyone had tipped them to win because of their style of play and the quality they parade,” Adepoju told Goal at Four Points by Sheraton Lagos where he was special guest in the exclusive viewing of the final and also interacted with football fans.
“Juventus didn’t have a chance to play their game in the first half because they were really tensed but in the second half, they came out, got the equalizer and when trying to get their second goal – they lost it.
“Even when [Juventus] were a goal down in the fourth minute, I knew they were going to come back because they are a great team and cannot be written off so easily, but the better side won.
“I have sympathy for all the players but  it’s just unfortunate that only just one team can win . So sad for Buffon who have not won the champions league – that is football for you and he must accept it,” he concluded.
