Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin yesterday proved their superiority over the visiting Akwa Starlet F C of Uyo as they claimed the three points at stake in the week 7 of the Nigerian National League (NNL) match at the Sammuel Ogbemudia Stadium following a 2-1 victory over the visitors.
The victory which is the second in their home ground in two weeks has placed the Benin Club on 10 points from six games in the NNL.
The homers got the opening goal through Charles Omokaro in the 27th minutes of play while their guest pulled a quick equalizer following an outside 18 yard box volley from Okon Aniekene.
The tally remained one goal apiece when the half time whistle came from the centre referee. Before the half time call, the Akwa Starlet players had made the game disinteresting as they forced the referee to halt play following frequent feigned injuries to buy time.
The active life of the game was restored after the Insurers scored their winning goal at the 51st minutes of play through Ikponmwosa Ogbeifu.
Attempt by the visitors to reestablish themselves in the game through deft attacking moves were frustrated by the Insurance defense.
