BIRNIN -Kebbi – Mr Emmanuel James, a 2015 Batch D corps member in Kebbi State has donated 50 safety helmets to commercial motorcycle operators in the state to enhance their safety.
James presented the helmets to the Kebbi chapter of the Amalgamation of Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Birnin Kebbi.
The corps member, while making the presentation, said the donation was part of his contribution to encourage use of helmets by commercial motorcycle riders.
He advised the beneficiaries to ensure continuous usage of the helmets for their safety.
Mr Seyi Daniel, the Kebbi Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), commended James and assured that the commission was committed to ensuring safety on the roads at all times.
“The use of the crash-helmet is one of the major tools to prevent injury on the head, which is the most vital organ in the human body,” Daniel, represented by Mr Isaac Adegoneye, a FRSC officer, said.
He appealed to the leaders of ACOMORAN to educate their members on the importance of helmets and urged members to abide by traffic rules to reduce the rate of accidents.
The ACOMORAN Chairman, Alhaji Nafi’u Zaki thanked the donor, assuring him that the helmets would be used judiciously.
He promised that the association would also embark on enlightenment of its members.
Zaki called on other members of the public to emulate James’ actions for the safety of commercial motorcycle operators.
