DUTSE- The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Jigawa yesterday said it would support President Muhammadu Buhari in fighting corruption.
The Chairman of the association in the state, Mr Adamu Turaki stated this in an interview with Journalists in Dutse.
“The issue of corruption is one of the campaign mantras of President Buhari and the issue was very clear in his inaugural speech.
“The NBA will support Mr President in the drive to ensure a corrupt-free Nigeria,” he said.
Turaki noted that corruption is one of the major problems in the country with debilitating effects on development, economic growth and poverty.
The NBA Chairman advised the President to stand by his promise to Nigerians to rid the country of corruption.
He suggested that a special committee should be set up to review existing legal framework on anti-corruption laws and agencies.
Turaki said the government should adopt ‘Plea Bargain’ method where all those involved in corrupt practices would be asked to return the proceeds of the crime and get less punishment.
