BENIN CITY – The Edo State Commissioner for Works, Barr. Osarodion Ogie has been honoured with an award of excellence by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Presenting the award, the Chairman of NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Desmond Agbama said Barr. Ogie was nominated for the NUJ prestigious award during the 2014 Press Week for his exemplary and excellent public service in Edo State, coupled with his humane and humanitarian disposition.
Comrade Agbama said that due to intense political activities during the last quarter of last year, Barr. Ogie was unable to receive the award, hence it is being presented to him now.
According to Agbama, as a Barrister, a former Chief of Staff to Edo State Government and the current Commissioner for Works, Barr. Ogie has contributed in no small measure to the development of the State and advancement of humanity.
These quality and virtues he said endeared Ogie to the NUJ, hence his nomination for the award.
He told the awardee that the award is a reward for hard work, dedication, loyalty and excellence.
In his remark, Barr. Ogie thanked the Chairman and members of the union, for recognizing him for the award, which he said will spur him to greater performance in his public service to Edo State.
Barr. Ogie said he cherished the award because it is coming from an unbiased organization and professionals who are abreast with his public and private life.
He promised to always identify with the union and as well support it in overcoming its challenges.
