BENIN CITY – A young man, Okunrobo Endurance Iziegbe has been forced into hiding following a relentless campaign of violence and intimidation by members of the a notorious secret cult group,the Eiye. The victim’s ordeal, which began on campus has escalated into a life-threatening pursuit that recently resulted in the shooting of an innocent neighbor.
According to sources close to the victim, Idowu’s troubles began in 2011 shortly after gaining admission into a state-owned university. A trusted friend, identified as Joshua, reportedly invited him to a graduation party. However, the event was a front for a violent recruitment exercise.
under the influence of alcohol and substances provided at the party, Endurance and two other students were forcibly taken to a nearby bush. There, they were brutally beaten and subjected to a forced initiation ritual. Upon regaining full consciousness and realizing the gravity of the situation, Idowu attempted to sever all ties with the group—a decision that made him a target for the cult’s “execution” squad.
The group’s desperation to retain Endurance led to a shocking display of lawlessness. Cult members reportedly trailed him to an examination hall where, in the presence of terrified students and lecturers, he was severely assaulted.
”The atmosphere was one of total helplessness,” a source stated. “People were too afraid of the cultists’ weapons to intervene while they beat him.”
Hoping to start over again, he relocated to a new hostel the next academic year. However, the cult members tracked him down, looted his new apartment, and issued a chilling ultimatum: Membership cannot be renounced.
Endurance’s situation worsened during a police raid on a hostel belonging to Joshua, where dangerous weapons and firearms were recovered. Although Idowu was present at the time, the group said that he was the person that called the police.

The harassment reached a breaking point recently when cult members stormed Endurance’s residence in Benin City, allegedly seeking to kill him for being a “snitch.” While he managed to escape the hit, a neighbor who attempted to intervene was shot by the gunmen.
Okunrobo Endurance Iziegbe has since fled for his life, his current whereabouts unknown. The matter has been reported to the Police and investigation into the activities of the group and the shooting incident is currently ongoing.
