BENIN CITY- Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu says the state government will continue to partner with health professionals with a view to promoting the health indices of the state.
Dr. Pius Odubu was speaking on behalf of Governor Adams Oshiomhole when the state chapter of the Association of Resident Doctors and the Nigeria Medical Association visited him in government house Benin City.
Dr. Pius Odubu who described the association as partners in progress assured them of government’s support in the discharge of their duties.
He admonished the medical doctors not to resort to strike as a way of expressing their grievances as human lives lost during strike actions are irreplaceable.
Dr Odubu urged them to strike a delicate balance between agitation for their rights and preservation of human lives.
The deputy governor noted that the state government believes, in adequate recompense for work done, pointing out that the state government will do anything to motivate the workforce.
Edo State NMA Chairman, Prof. Afekhide Ernest-Omoti commended the state government for the prompt payment of workers salaries.
The president, Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Anthony Oseghale on his part called for the employment of more professionals to man the health sub-sector in the state.
