Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri felt his side wasted a great opportunity after equalising in the Champions League final as they eventually slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona.
Having fallen behind early on to an outstanding team goal, Juventus hauled themselves back into the match and levelled the scores in the 55th minute when Alvaro Morato tapped the ball home.
The Bianconeri had a brief period of dominance after equalising but then conceded a soft Luis Suarez goal before Neymar killed the game off in the final moments.
Allegri was not too disheartened by the defeat, though.
“We had an extraordinary season, a great final and in our best moment of the game conceded a silly goal,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“There were the chances to equalise, but Barcelona have three amazing players in attack and you have to take your opportunities.
“We had trouble at the start finding our shape and the right channels. We had several attempts, including the first of the game, and played well. In some situations we could’ve done better.
“At that moment we were pushing for the second goal and left ourselves open to concede on the counter from a goal kick.
“I think Juventus had a remarkable season with the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and reaching the Champions League final. What more could we have done?
“Now our task is to consolidate our position in the top eight of Europe, which in turn will make us even stronger in Serie A.”
With Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez expected to leave the club this summer, and with Paulo Dybala already confirming his move to Turin from Palermo, a summer of change is expected for the Serie A champions.
