ABUJA – The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC)  has said that its relationship with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) would be strengthened for effective service delivery.
The Executive Secretary of the commission, Mr John-Kennedy Opara, said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the NAHCON Chairman, Malam Abdullahi Muktar in Abuja.
“ We are here as usual to congratulate you people on the newly confirmed chairman of the commission and other members of the commission that were newly confirmed.
“ We pray that the Almighty God will continue to bless them as they assume duty and go about their jobs diligently.’’
Opara expressed confidence in the new chairman of the commission, saying he would consolidate on the good work the immediate past chairman had done.
He advised the new chairman to carry everybody along in order to move the commission to an enviable height.
He said he would always lift the chairman in prayers as the whole country looked up to him to give the commission a great boost, especially in area of Hajj operations.
Opara urged the staff of the commission to be more dedicated and give maximum cooperation to the new chairman, in order to make his job easy.
He said that the NCPC would give him the necessary support at all times.
Opara expressed delight over the rare synergy the two commissions had been enjoying over the years.
“ We have been partners in progress; whatever NCPC is doing, NAHCON is part of us, and whatever NAHCON is doing, we are part of them.
Responding, Muktar thanked Opara for the visit and prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to strengthen the two commissions for better and effective service delivery.
The new chairman promised to build on the legacy left behind by his predecessor for the benefit of the commission.
Muktar said that the need to strengthen the relationship between the two commissions could not be over-emphasised in order to uplift the two religions and the nation as a whole.
He urged the two commissions to look beyond just rendering services to pilgrims and engage in other activities that could be help to the entire nation.
“The commission will ever remain grateful to the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission for its efforts towards making sure that the Hajj Commission achieves greater heights,’’ Muktar said.
