The Big Boss returned to the Super Eagles hotseat to oversee the unconvincing victory against Chad last weekend, was there any evidence of change or improvement?
Was Nigeria’s victory over Chad on Saturday a sign of a new direction for the national side under Stephen Keshi, or evidence of a continuing malaise under the stewardship of the Big Boss?
The truth, perhaps, is that there was a little bit of both.
The return of Keshi was, paradoxically, both a ‘safe bet’ and an immense risk.
On one hand, the Big Boss knows the set-up better than anyone and, if you can attribute the dismal 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign to off-field troubles, his successes—World Cup qualification and knockout progression, as well as , of course, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, could make him the ideal man for the role.
