BENIN CITY- Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu has been honoured  as the party Man of the year.
The award  ceremony  and democracy day lecture which took place in Benin City were organized by the Coalition of Progressives (COP) a socio-political organisation.
Receiving the award conferred on Dr. Pius Odubu, Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Ekpenriebe Akenzua on behalf of the deputy governor expressed gratitude to the Coalition of Progressives for the honour done him.
Prince Ekpen Akenzua said the awardees will continue to be a true partyman who has the interest of the people at heart in order to enhance the political fortunes of the state.
He urged the socio-political organization to continue to be constructive in their criticisms and encouraged the group to shun partisanship as they educate and mobilize the people on democratic practice.
Representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Edo state Mrs. Priscilia Imoudu-Sule appreciated the role played by the civil society during the last general elections in Edo State while Barr. Abraham Oviawe who stood in for Comrade Austin Osakue assured that the civil society will not relent in its determination to point out the rights and wrongs in the society no matter whose ox is gored.
The pioneer woman leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo Satte Mrs. Modino Emovon also received a post-humous award of Extraordinary Life Achievement.
The theme of the event was “Mentorship, Guardianship and Direction the role of Government in youth Development.
