BENIN CITY – Edo State House of Assembly has received the report of the panel of enquiry on the suspended Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, Mr. Godwin Aigbodion, with a recommendation that he be relieved of his position.
The NIGERIAN OBSERVER reported that Governor Adams Oshiomhole suspended the chairman over alleged financial misconduct.
The report of the panel which was sent to the House by the Governor recommended that the Chairman be relieved of his position following his inability to exonerate himself from all the financial allegations leveled against him.
The Speaker, therefore directed the report to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs with a mandate to report back to the House within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a bill for a law to make provision for the establishment of the Edo State College of Nursing and Midwifery and a bill for a law to make provision for the establishment of School of Midwifery, St. Philomena Catholic Hospital Benin City scaled second reading during plenary.
Also, a bill for a law to establish school of midwifery, St. Camillus Hospital, Uromi scaled second reading on the floor of the House.
A joint session with the newly elected members into the Edo State House of Assembly was held during plenary yesterday.
