BENIN CITY- Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has appealed to the body of Christ in the state to pray ceaselessly for the restoration of peace, love and prosperity to the nation.
The occasion was the first session of the fifth synod of Diocese of Esan, Anglican Communion at St Andrews Cathedral Eguare Ekpoma where he was represented by the Deputy Governor Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu.
Dr. Odubu said Nigeria is currently passing through challenging times, hence the need for more prayers to return the country to the path of peace and progress.
He urged the congregation to be fervent in prayers so that God would take charge of the hearts of leaders to enable them serve with the fear of God.
While calling for prayers for the state, the deputy governor enjoined Christians to continue to support and pray for Governor Oshiomhole whom he said, has perfumed beyond previously established boundaries as well as President Muhammadu Buhari so that God would equip him with the wisdom to identify the needs of Nigerians.
Prayers for the governor, he said, would enable him to continue to deliver to the greatest number of people in Edo State.
Former Governor of Edo State Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor said it is incumbent on Christians to allow the will of God prevail in their lives.
Prof. Osunbor recalled how God’s will took control during and after the general elections in the country, amidst fears of bitterness.
Presenting the Bishop’s charge, Most Rev. Friday Imaekhai Bishop of Esan Diocese entred his message on the topic: “Thy Will Be Done”.
Bishop Imaekhai who stressed the need for ethical revolution to make stealing and corruption less fashionable, called on President Buhari to among other create institutions of probity, accountability and hardwork to discourage the vices currently militating against the nation.
Special prayer was later said for the state government.
