YOLA – An Adamawa-based Islamic cleric, Ustaz Tijjani Adam, has called on Nigerian Muslims to seek for Western and Islamic education.
Adam made the call at the First graduation ceremony of Garba Ibrahim Memorial Islamic Academy, Dougirie, Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa.
According to the cleric, the only way Muslims in the country could resolve religious conflicts is to combine Islamic knowledge and western education.
“The major problems affecting some Muslims today is ignorance about the true teaching of their religion.
“Combining both western and Islamic education will effectively help Nigerian Muslims out of conflict and have a focus,” Adam said.
He recalled that the first revelation of Qur’an was a directive from Almighty Allah telling Prophet Muhammad to “ Read”, which means to seek for knowledge.
The Principal of the school, Ustaz Salihu Bello, tasked parents to send their children to school.
Bello said that the only legacy parents should live behind for their children was to give them education.
Reports state that 17 students graduated from the school, and seven of them came out with distinction.
