BENIN CITY –  The formal opening of the technical/financial bid on consultancy in view of conducting tax survey/enumeration in Edo State as well as reviewing the organizational structure of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service has been held in Benin City, Edo State capital.
This came on the heels of an earlier request by the Edo State Employment Expenditure for Result Project (SEEFOR) indicating expression of interest for (consultancy services  firm selection)   which was earlier published in some national dalies.
While declaring the bid open, the Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) Chief Oseni Elamah acknowledged that the procedure/selection process as regards the proposal submitted by the qualified consultants for the Word Bank Tax Survey and Enumeration were transparent.
He declared that the proposals by the qualified consultants which gears towards the pilot project in Edo State were intact.
Also speaking, the project coordinator, Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Result Project (SEEFOR), Mr. Taiwo Akerele pointed out that a total of eight expressions of interest were received before the closure date for submission on October 17th, 2014.
He said six firms were shortlisted after due evaluation by the evaluation committee. He listed the shortlisted firms to include  KPMG Nigeria Limited, Compliance Professionals Plc Nigeria, Akintola Williams Delliotte & Co., AH Consulting Uganda, Akintola Williams and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
The State SEEFOR coordinator, said five out of the six shortlisted firms met the required scores after the evaluation of technical proposal.
He further explained that upon approval of the evaluation/technical report by the world bank, only the Compliance Professionals Plc Nigeria, PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as Ernst and Young met the qualification mark.
Responding on behalf of other biding firms, Mr. Abolade Kehinde described the initiative as a welcome development in Edo State, judging by the economic climate currently facing the nation.
He further described as flawless and transparent the process of the biding opening, commending the management staff of EIRS and the SEEFOR project team for giving them such opportunity.
Present at the ocassion included the Executive Chairman, EIRS, Chief Oseni Elamah, Executive Directors Barr. Emmanuel Usoh, Hon. Barr John Obazee, Prince Felix Isuku, Permanent/Board Secretary, Vera Obadan, and Executive Director Edo State Information  Communication & Technology Agency, Emmanuel Anabor amongst others.
