Tragedy was averted in Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan West Local Govt Area of Edo State when a tanker carrying forty litters of petrol fell off and spill the product in front of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma

What could have tuned into disaster was brought under control by some Soldiers, the Nigeria Police and men of the Civil Defense corps as they apprehended some residents who came with jerry cans and basins to scoop fuel that flooded the university main gate environment.

Traffic was at a gridlock for some hours due to the incident and fear of the inflammable product as some motorist have to make a turn around while others scamper for safety.

According to the owner of the product who simply identified himself as Mr Ehiguese, the truck loaded forty thousand litters of fuel from Warri depot and was heading for Uromi in Esan North East local Government Area when the driver attempted to avoid a flooded area but unaware that a ditch was close by hence the tank fell off the truck and spilled the product on the highway

Mr Ehiguese appreciated the Nigeria army and other securities operatives for their quick intervention which according to him forestall possible disaster.
