ABUJA – President of the Senate, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has warned Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies government agencies which have remained adamant in remitting revenues to the Federation Account
that government will no longer condone such act.
Making the declaration yesterday while playing host to th Chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr. Elias Mbam and his team Senate President Saraki regretted that non compliance by the MDAs has brought major setback to the processes of governance.
He reiterated the support of the Senate in bringing back justice to any erring agency that indulges in diverting government revenue to illegal channel adding, “monetary revenue and allocation is a serious challenge to our economy”.
The SP further noted that although diversification of economy is very important, it is not an overnight issue, stressing, “we must block every leakage in government revenue”.
“We made campaign promises to Nigerians and we must fulfill all our pledges. It cannot be business as usual. We will do everything within our capacity to elevate the living standard of Nigerians.”
He further advised that the agency operates a functional website where information concerning the day-to-day activities of the agency is published.
Earlier, the RMAFC Boss, Mbam said the agency have always enjoyed cordial relationship with the National Assembly while calling for continued working partnership with the view to enhance their effectiveness.
“As you may be aware you Excellency the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission is one  of the fourteen Executive Bodies provided for in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The constitutional responsibility of the commission is to monitor accruance to and disbursement of revenue from the federation account, to review from time to time the revenue allocation formula to reflect changing realities and to determine remuneration appropriate for political  and public office holders and also to advise the Federal and State governments on fiscal efficiencies and ways of increasing their revenue generation.
If you look at this responsibilities  you find that the fit in directly with the work of the National Assembly. We are therefore here to seek for your partnership, for your support for your collaboration and cooperation.
We have always received the support of the NASS and we strongly believe that your  leadership will further strengthen this relationship in the interest of the Nigerian public”, he added.
