BENIN CITY – A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State and the Ayobahan of Benin Kingdom, Chief Dr. John Osamede Adun JP, has justified Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s action, urging Local Government Council functionaries across the state to henceforth forfeit their security   votes and other allowances, following the non payment of salaries of the Local Government Workers.
Chief Adun, made his position known to The Nigerian OBSERVER, recently, in Benin City, while reacting to the directives of the governor on the matter.
He pointed out that the inability of the council Chairman to pay their workers was as a result of their selfish interest without recourse to the negative effects it had on the workers.
Chief Adun reiterated that none of the local government chairmen get nothing less than N500,000 as internally generated revenue on daily basis.
According to him, as a revenue consultant to the administration of Dr. Mike Ehima as the Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, I was able to remit the sum of N250,000 from my own bit out of the four bits within the Ring Road axis that was contracted out to the council treasury, a development which made it possible to pay salary to workers with ease.
He noted that nowadays, the Chairmen would contract the revenue generation to their immediate relatives or love ones, who remit same to a private bank account.
The Edo Line boss, however, posited that the actions of the governor shall further enhance accountability and transparency in the local government administration and commended him for taking a pragmatic steps to address the rots in the system for good governance and therefore called on the chairmen and the councilors to strictly adhere to the directive in order to restore the lost confidence in the Local Government.
On the issues of repositioning Edo Line Transport Company Limited, Chief Adun said that the first premier transport company in Nigeria would soon bounce back to its place of pride, asserting that Comrade Oshiomhole as a prudent Governor, wants to be keen as to how he invests public fund to revive the transport company.
As the administrator of Edo Line Transport Company Limited, he said that he had been able to influence the state government to take the responsibility for the payment of the workers’ salaries as at when due.
Angered by the calls for the resignation of Chief John Odigie Oyegun as National Chairman of APC, the Chief Executives Officer of Bob Izua Conglomerate worldwide, described the development as very sadden and described those casting aspersions on the national chairman as not only mischievous, and lazy political sycophant with little or no sense of belonging in the society.
He, however, described Chief Oyegun as a lucky man, whose wide range of political experience propelled the party to greatness and therefore warned those calling for his resignation bluntly to desist henceforth as the south south people would rise up to jointly resist any attempt to relegate him.
