Abuja – The Nigerian Army on Thursday said it had rescued 59 civilians held captives by terrorists in Borno.
This information is contained in a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman.
Usman said troops of 151 Task Force Battalion on Thursday conducted operations on Kashingeri, Wale and Kushingari Boko Haram terrorists’ camps in Borno.
He said during the raids a number of terrorists were killed, a Land Rover vehicle and a Tipper lorry were recovered.
“The troops also rescued 59 civilians that were held captive by the terrorists,’’ he said.
Usman also said that as part of efforts to rid the country of the terrorists, troops of 21 Brigade and elements of Nigerian Army Engineers on Wednesday cleared other notorious terrorists’ camps.
According to him, the camps are located at Chuogori and Shantumar also in Borno.
He said during the offensive the fleeing terrorists left underground silos.
