ORHIONMWON – Urhonigbe Association inconjunction with Urhonigbe Development Group in the United State of America is set to mobilise sons and daughters of the community in diaspora and in Nigeria to redirect the course  of the town and grow the social and economic activities of the area.
The group in a statement signed by Mr. Charles Odiase and Victor Aimuyo said that the Urhonigbe Association of Nigeria, U.S.A inconjunction with Urhonigbe Development Group called on all sons and daughters of the town to come together for the development of the community.
“Urhonigbe is the second largest Benin Speaking town in Edo State, but lacks adequate development as a town of its magnitude.
Continuing, the statement added, “we need to contribute our efforts, talents and money to help Urhonigbe regain its glory.
“To this end, we encourage our people both at home and abroad to start liaising on how to develop the city.
The group stated that the lack of adequate development in the town has stifled economic activities in the area, leading to the mass movement of young people from the community to Benin City and other cities in search of jobs and better opportunities.
They further posited that “Urhonigbe was once a thriving town for commerce because of the Rubber Plantation and other related economic activities created by the industry which over the years attracted people from surrounding towns and villages.
The association called for synergy with local, state, federal governments and corporate bodies to change the destiny of Urhonigbe Community.
Mr. Charles Odiase and Mr. Victor Aimuyo however expressed appreciation to groups and individuals as well as government for their contributions so far and called on them not to relent in their quest to move Urhonigbe forward.
