BENIN CITY- The Itsekiris in the six oil producing communities in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State comprising Ajoki, Ajamimogha, Ajatiton, Ikara, Kolokolo and Ologbo have dissociated themselves from the Thursday 25 June 2015 publication of Vanguard at Page 42 by some person’s who impersonated as leaders of the communities to disparage the state government and Edo State oil and gas producing area development   commission over their alleged Marginalization in the execution of projects in the state.
Speaking at the end of a meeting held at the Palace Hall of the Ikaye Atariumogun in Ologbo on Sunday, Prince Johnson Atseleghe who is also the ruler of the Ologbo/Ikaye Itsekiri communities on behalf of the Olaraja and the council of elders and trustees of each of the Itsekiri oil producing communities condemned the publication in its entirely describing it as a complete misrepresentation of the actual situation on ground and a baseless plot of discredit the good governance of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole which is the only administration that has given the locality all the attention it has received in terms of project execution and participation in the government of Edo State.
He listed some of the projects executed by Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission in the locality to include the construction of a block of six classroom with V.I.P toilets at Ajoki, the construction of a block of six classrooms with V.I.P toilets at Kolokolo, the ongoing construction of a block of six classrooms with V.I.P toilets at Ajamimogha, the construction of a block of six classrooms with V.I.P toilets at Ohen Primary School Ologbo, the renovation of a block of six classrooms with V.I.P toilets for senior secondary school in Ozolua grammar school Ologbo, the construction of a block of six classrooms with V.I.P toilets for Junior Secondary School also in Ozolua Grammar School Ologbo, the construction of a solar powered borehole each in Ikara, Ajatiton and Ologbo.
For his part, the member representing Edo South Senatorial District and specifically the Itsekiri Oil producing communities in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government on the board of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Barrister Promise Ademi-Akpeto enjoined members of the public to discountenance the antics of the authors of the publication as it is only a ploy to rob them of their continued enjoyment of the dividends of democracy which only the Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole’s administration has brought them and concentrate instead on ensuring that the projects are protected from Vandals.
