BENIN CITY- The Executive  Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Chief Oseni Elamah has emphasised the need for those in the corridors of power to  give youths a chance to grow and mentor them with a view to ensuring a better society.
The Executive chairman made the assertion when he played host to the Afemai Students Union (ASU), University of Benin/UBTH Chapter who were on a courtesy visit to him in Benin City.
Chief Elamah noted that nothing was impossible in life, adding that whether or not it will be possible is determined by one’s mindset.
The revenue boss who noted that tax remains the only pivotal source through which revenue can be generated to run government and bring about even development, said Edo people were Lucky to have Governor Adams Oshiomhole who has the courage and political will which he said culminated in the optimization of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) with which the state is being developed.
He said that the government has made good effort at creating tax-friendly environment where investors can come and invest.
Chief Elamah who described the visitors as able-bodied men and women who will take after the leaders tomorrow, however, acknowledged them for displaying the advocacy on the need for people to pay their taxes.
Earlier, the president  of the Union, Comrade Ebinagbome Maxims, said Chief Elamah selfless services was glaring in all the nooks and crannies of the state through the massive construction/ transformation of roads, schools, hospitals amongst others by the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
He pointed out that since the inception of democracy in 1999, the people have been feeling the impact of taxpaying, courtesy of the EIR boss.
He lamented that the Union was almost at the verge of collapse but for the effort of the new executive to bring  it back to its glory through  monthly meetings, database, dues, amongst others, hence the familiarisation visit to solicit support of the EIRS boss to enable the current leaders succeed.
