BENIN CITY -The Edo State police command has declared one Lucky Owie and others wanted in connection with cult related activities which allegedly claimed the only surviving son of a police officer.
It was gathered that while some youths were playing football in a Primary school field in the town, a hot argument ensued leading to a violent fight between the Eiye confraternity, popularly known as Birdmen and Marphites.
During the fight, one Samson reportedly took a bottle, broke it and stabbed to death the son of the police officer whose name could not be ascertained at the time of filing in this report.
According to Alhaji Musa Muhammed who hailed from Gaya local government area of Kano state, said though the matter was earlier reported at the station, after noticing that the victim was dead in the process, Samson fled with his cult group and united with Lucky Owie in Kano whom reports say specialised in cultism/robbery cases in Kano.
Muhammed said that the matter was earlier reported at a police station in Kano and later transferred to Edo State where the incident of murder took place.
He said his own son had confided in him that he was initiated into the cult group on 14 July, 2015 by Samson and Lucky Owie, expressing worry over the nefarious activities of the suspected cultists who have been known as the leaders of the gang whom according to reports were also into armed robbery.
He also revealed that seven suspects of the group being trailed by the police including Lucky Owie, Amadi Uche Emmanuel, Samson, among others who have since disappeared to unknown destination for cover as according to him, in a bid to avoid arrest.
It was further gathered that when the police got a tip-off about the suspects’ location at a motor park where they alleged work, they( police) invaded and on sighting them, the suspects made their way and have not been seen.
Contacted, the Edo state police command said the matter was under investigation.
