BENIN CITY- The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly has directed the 18 Local Government Chairmen of the state to appear before an ad-hoe Committee Chaired by the Speaker, on Monday July 6 at 9am to give reasons for their inability to meet their statutory obligations of salary payment resulting in a backlog of arrears owed workers at some of the councils.
The directive was sequel to the hearing of a petition of the members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Edo State Chapter, dated July 1 and titled non-payment of workers salaries in   Local Government Councils in the state” on the floor of the House yesterday.
Also  during plenary yesterday Speaker Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror enjoined all members of the state parliament  and staff alike to endeavour to attend the thanksgiving ceremony of the Lawmaker representing Esan South-East Constituency on July 5 in Ubiaja.
The  appeal by the Speaker followed the announcement of the thanksgiving ceremony to mark his election victory into the state assembly in Esan South-East.  The administrative Headquarters of Constituency Ubiaja.
