Uyo – Football stakeholders in Akwa Ibom on Thursday hailed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for considering Sunday Oliseh for appointment as the new Super Eagles coach.
The stakeholders in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom Director of Sports, Coach Aniedi Dickson, described the planned appointment as a good development.
Dickson said that Oliseh had played football at the highest level and was well exposed to handle the Eagles given, his coaching training.
“It is good to develop what we have no matter the mistake that we make,” Dickson said.
A former Technical Adviser of Akwa United FC, Coach Charles Bassey, said Oliseh was a good choice, very humble and disciplined fellow.
“I want to believe that he is a thorough person, he is somebody that can do the job if given the opportunity,” Bassey said.
Justice Udousoro, the Deputy Director, Sports at Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation (TV Service), said that Oliseh was a good indigenous coach.
“I think he is a level-headed person, it is a good development for football in Nigeria,” Udousoro said.
Udousoro, who is a national officer of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), advised Oliseh to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor.
He urged the incoming coach to eschew all sentiments by giving every player his due, so that they prayed for his success.
The vice-chairman of SWAN in Akwa Ibom, EnwonoAbasi Ituen, said with Oliseh as the coach, the future was bright for the Eagles.
Ituen said that Oliseh would be back on a familiar terrain, having been the captain of the team at some point in his football career.
“I see him as the right choice,” Ituen said.
A former SWAN chairman in Akwa Ibom, Eno Udo, said Oliseh deserved the job having been equipped with professional coaching training.
Eno, who is the Production Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, however advised Oliseh not to be confrontational on any issue in the discharge of his job.
