BENIN CITY –  Students of Ihogbe College Benin, yesterday protested to the State House of Assembly over inadequate teachers in their school.
Speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, one of the students who simply identified himself as Osas, alleged that they now pay some teachers the sum of one thousand five hundred naira (N1,500) before they are taught.
Others, however, lamented that some of their teachers were laid off in the wake of the phasing out of Edo Youths Employment Scheme (YES) by the state  government recently, and  appealed to Governor Oshiomhole to deploy more teachers to their school.
The students who said they organized the protest round the city to draw government attention to their plight brandished various placards with the inscription.
“ We want more teachers “please Comrade Governor, come to our Rescue”, among others.
As at press time, the protesting students could not be attended to by the leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly even as they expressed willingness to take their protest to Government House.
