Makurdi – A former Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, to intervene to end the spate of killings in Benue state.
Tsav told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday in Makurdi that their intervention was imperative to prevent the state from plunging into anarchy.
NAN recalls that Mr Atoza Ihindan, a chieftain of the PDP in Katsina-Ala local government area, was recently gunned down by unknown assassins in broad day light near Jato Aka in the LGA.
Tsav, who bemoaned the incessant killings, noted that they occurred mostly within the Katsina-Ala axis of the state.
He said: “Within a month, a total of about 13 people had been killed in that area, seven of them PDP members.
“Ironically, both the Security Adviser and Security Officer to Gov. Samuel Ortom are from that area; yet they cannot stop these senseless atrocities and killings.
“These senseless killings seem to have political undertone and I call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the I-GP to come to our rescue.
“This is how Boko Haram started and metamorphosed into a regional terror group that has destroyed many innocent lives and property,”
