Homosexuality seems to be the most controversial issue in the global news today. A good number of Western nations have gone as far as legalizing gay marriage, thereby encouraging same-sex union.
Homosexuals are those who are sexually attracted to people of the same sex. A gay person is a man who is sexually attracted to his fellow man whereas a lesbian is a woman who is sexually attracted to fellow women. The union between a man and a man, a woman with a woman is called gay marriage or same-sex union.
Homosexuality and gay marriage is a global problem. It is causing a lot of political and religious tension, especially since the legalization of same-sex union. Most of the world leaders are now spending more time in promoting same-sex union; instead of addressing major existential issues such as poverty, unemployment and global economic meltdown, that is affecting our world negatively.
The Christian bible presents homosexuality as the sin of the Sodomites, the sin that brought destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah as recorded in Genesis chapter 19. The sin of Sodom is described as an abomination: “Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, surfeit of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty, and did abominable things before me; therefore I removed them, when I saw it” (Ezekiel 16:49-50). God did not waist time to destroy Sodom when He discovered that they were homosexuals.
The Lord did not spare Sodom for the abominable acts they did; he removed them completely from the face of the earth. If God could not spare Sodom because of the sin of homosexuality who says the Lord will overlook all the nations that are going about promoting homosexuality to the extent of legalizing gay marriage? No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ said, “It shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you” (Matthew 11:24).
What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah is nothing as compared to what awaits our generation. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah committed homosexuality but they did not go as far as legalizing gay marriage as most Western nations have done today. The family institution was not directly affected then but through the legalization of gay marriage, our generation is directly attacking the family institution and they are rebelling against God. Hence, it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for our generation if they refuse to repent.
The book of Leviticus directly and strongly condemns every act of homosexuality. In this passage the Lord God says to the Israelites and to us all, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. And you shall not lie with any of the beast and defile yourself with it, neither shall any woman give herself to a beast to lie with it: it is perversion” (Leviticus 18:22-23). Homosexuality is not just an abominable act it is also a perversion, a distortion of the natural order.
The Qur’an describes homosexuality as a transgression: “Do you approach males among the worlds and leave what the Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing.” (Surah 26:165-166) Such transgressors will never go unpunished by Allah. The Qu’ran also describes those who practice homosexuality as ignorant people: “Do you indeed approach men with desire of woman? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly” (Surah 27:55). Those who commit such crime are ignorant because they may not know that they are actually destroying themselves and their generation.
Prophet Muhammad not only condemn homosexuality, he went as far as saying, “A man should not see the private parts of another man, and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman, and a man should not lie with another man under one covering, and a woman should not lie with another woman under one covering. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid), Book 003, Number 0667). Prevention is better than cure. If it is sinful for a man to see the private part of his fellow men how much more when a man sleeps with a fellow man?
• The Christians and the Muslims agree on the following: 1) that homosexuality clashes with the natural order. The book of Genesis rightly declares, “God created man in his image, in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). The passage also added, “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). The bible did not say the man should cleave to his fellow man but to a woman. This is exactly how God planned it. Anything other than this is indeed an aberration.

• Christians and Muslims also agree that homosexuality brings destruction of the family and institution of marriage. An ideal nuclear family is an institution that is made up of a father, a mother and their children. Homosexuality can never stand as a family because it negates the essential aspect of family life, which is procreation. Naturally, there is no way people of same-sex can produce children. The family is incomplete without children; how much more without the presence of a man and a woman who are indeed the indispensable figures in marriage and family life.
• Homosexuality leads to direct rebellion to God’s guidance and principles of life. There is no place in the Christian Bible or in the Muslim Qu’ran where homosexuality was allowed. The two holy books condemn every form of homosexuality. Any attempt to practice it or even to encourage people to practice it through legalization is indeed a direct attack against the Bible and the Qu’ran. As long as the two holy books are concerned, homosexuals (and even those who practice heterosexual act outside wedlock) are not just immoral persons but also rebellious people.
Sodom and Gomorrah is meant to serve as a deterrent to other nations. St. Jude wrote, “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cites, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire (Jude 1:7). The world has refused to learn their lesson.
In the attempt to address the problem of homosexuality Religious and political leaders have neglected the spiritual origin and influence of homosexuality. Some religious leaders are even at the verge of seeing homosexual tendencies as a natural phenomenon; hence, the consideration that people with homosexual tendencies should be accepted and respected like every other normal human being. The fact is that homosexuality is not natural, just as someone with a spirit of lust cannot be justified as a normal human being.
In my eleventh years in deliverance ministry, I have discovered that most of the problems facing our youths are not ordinary; demons are responsible for most of their problems. For instance, I have met so many young people who admitted that each time they engage in homosexual act that it is as though another spirit enters them and after using them to perform this shameful act they will be filled with a deep sense of regrets. Most of them are even fed up with the act, but “unfortunately,” as one of them lamented, “I have tried to stop it but I cannot help myself.”
It was then that I discovered that what homosexuals need is not just acceptance but essentially deliverance. They need to be delivered from this demon that is pushing them into having intercourse with their fellow men or women. In our Adoration ministry God has used us to deliver a good number of people with homosexual tendencies. Most of them are now happily married with members of the opposite sex.
A similar phenomenon is the famous demoniac possession known as spiritual husband. Women who are possesses this spiritual husband always engage in all kinds of immoral act, some of them who possess the spirit of lust end up sleeping with so many men. Some married women may even end up divorcing their husband because of this wicked demon, people call spiritual husband. There is also a demon that is responsible for homosexuality.
You can now understand why I decided to embark on this youth liberation and empowerment programme. The youths can never be empowered without liberation. Liberation is indeed the best and only solution to the problem of homosexuality.
Child of God, if you are having this problem of homosexuality and deep within, you really want to get rid of this evil tendency, there is hope for you! As you come, the Lord God will surely deliver you from every demonic possession and manipulation, especially from the spirit of homosexuality.
