OFUMWENGBE-The alleged invasion of Okponha community by youths of Ofunmwengbe town, both in Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State has left seven persons hospitalized in Benin City.
It was gathered that the victims sustained various degrees of bullet wounds during the broad day invasion of the quiet community, last Tuesday.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Stephen Onwonchei said the police have made arrest.
He added that efforts have been intensified to arrest others youths who were involved in the invasion.
Sources disclosed that both communities have been embroiled in boundary dispute.
The youths Chairman of Okponha town Wilson Osaze alleged that the youths of Ofunmwengbe community a.k.a Okada junction/new road, armed with guns and dangerous weapons attacked them at a building site during foundation laying in Okponha community.
The unexpected attacked forced residents to run in different directions to avoid being hit by bullet.
Attempts to obtain comments from the youths Chairman of Ofunmwengbe community identified as Edosa Ogiamien, failed.
A dependable source who craved anonymity stated that the people of Okponha encroached on Ofumwengbe’s land.
