BENIN CITY- Edo State House of Assembly yesterday adopted a resolution urging members of the disbanded Edo State Youth Employment Scheme (Edo YES) to remain calm and exercise patience, as the state government is already working out plans to screen and regularize their employment with a view to making their status permanent.
The adoption of the resolution was sequel to the consideration of a report of the House Standing Committee on Commerce and Industry on a petition titled “Disbandment of Edo Youth Employment Scheme our dear state, sitting on keg of gun powder” presented on the floor of parliament by Hon. Roland Asoro of APC representing (Orhionmwon South Constituency), Chairman, House Committee on Commerce and Industry.
According to the findings of the report during its consideration at the Committee of the whole, the report of the committee Observed that the disbandment of Edo YES workers who were casual workers in various ministries, Department and Agencies was to pave way for regularization of the appointments of the YES workers into the state Public Service.
The findings of the report further indicated that the regularization of the appointment of the workers of Edo YES would be in their benefit as a Committee had been set-up by the state Government to screen returns from ministries, Departments and Agencies for the Ultimate purpose of the regularization of the disbanded Edo YES Staff.
Parliament during the consideration of the report of the committee on Commerce and Industry adopted the 1-point recommendation that the staff of Edo State Youth Employment Scheme (Edo YES) be advised to remain calm and exercise patience as the state government is working out plans to screen and regularize their employment.
