BENIN CITY – The Edo State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke has urged the public to desist from encroaching on government  lands across the State.
Commissioner Ugheoke stated this in Benin City when he paid an inspection visit to Iyoba College located in Ugbowo axis of Benin City.
He frowned at the level of encroachment on the school land by illegal developers and warned that the State Government would deal decisively with the matter by pulling down illegal property on such land.
The Lands and Surveys Commissioner explained that gone are the days when people build  on government lands with impunity, assuring that the Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s led administration was determined than ever to reclaim every inch of its encroached land, irrespective, of  who is involved.
The commissioner therefore directed that pockets of illegal structures on the school Land be marked for demolition, while squatters on the property be issued necessary notice.
Meanwhile, Elders and some members of Ugbowo Community have appealed to the State Government to de-acquire part of the land earlier acquired by it in the Community.
The appeal was made by Barr. Osaze Ojo on behalf of Ugbowo Community when they visited the office of the Commissioner who was earlier at the Community for inspection visit.
Addressing them, the Commissioner told them that their request would be critically examined, but however warned against further development in the affected location
