BENIN CITY- The Chairman, Egor Local Government Area Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Peter Aguebor has said that government has not done enough to provide enabling environment for youths to engage themselves for future leadership role in Nigeria.
Aguebor spoke with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER on the sideline of the event organized in Benin City by the local government chapter to mark the 2015 International Youth Day.
According to him, the atmosphere exists in documents, but without practical application.
He disclosed that the little platform established by government is not accessible to the youth, adding that government has not shown enough interest in the NYCN.
Noting that government cannot shy away its responsibilities to the youths, he however noted that “we will keep appealing to government to see how they can support youths in all areas.
The NYCN chairman charged youths to be responsible so as not to be able to advocate for their rights.
“Youths should not be seen as political thugs; be involve politically, educationally as nation builders. Don’t make yourself available as instrument to rig election,” he admonished youths.
