MAN’S life is designed to fulfill a divine purpose within a specified and defined time frame by the creator.
Psalm 39.4 states “Lord make me to know my end, and the measure of my days, what it is, that I may know now frail I am”.
Life on earth is a temporary assignment. And to make the best use of your life, you must brood on these two basic truths: first, compared with eternity, life in extremely brief and transcient. Secondly, the Earth, we are in is only a temporary residence. Very soon, you and I will bid it bye-bye and meet with the one, who has made it possible to be here on Earth.
Beloved, you won’t be here long, so don’t get too attached. The Bible compare life on Earth to temporarily living in a foray country, it is not your permanent home or final destination. Hence we are referred to as pilgrim, foreigner, stranger, visitor and travelers on Earth.
David said in Psalm 119:19. “I am a stranger in the earth, hide not thy commandments    from me.
Our creator has the sole authority and power to cut short or extend one’s life.  It, however, depends on your obedience to his instructions. I Samuel 2:6 states”. The Lord telleth and maketh alive, he bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up.
King Herod’s life was suddenly terminated when he could no longer be tolerated. Act 12:2-4, 21-23. He killed James and “proceeded further to kill Peter also. His people gave a shout saying it is the voice of a god, and not a man after he “made an oration unto them”. He ended up being “eaten of worms”.
Beloved, the extent you go fulfilled in life largely depends on you adherence to God’s instructions. 1 Kings 3:14 points out. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days”.
There is no other means by which your days on earth can be lengthen. You could have access to good food and live in a decent environment. These do not guarantee longevity. Your diligence to God’s word is the panacea.
It is important to quickly come to the reality that one’s obedience to the rudiment of God’s instruction and this fear is a shield that could guarantee long and prosperous life.
King Solomon suddenly became rich and prosperous when he showed his love for God. He was blessed but as time unfolded, he lost his wisdom as the knowledge of the word was corrupted by the strange women he co-habited with I kings 3:11-13, 11:1-5.
He failed to heed to God’s instruction, his reign came to a sudden end and his son, Rehaboam took over for David’s sake! I kings 11:13 on tribe.
Beloved, death does not discriminate, it could visit any one at any fine age notwithstanding. For this reason, we must all be conscious that there is hardly any day that passes without a record of death.
Heb 9:27 states. As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement”.
We must, at all times ask for God’s grace to live diligently in this sinful world; we must not be unaware that the days are evil and many agent of the devil have invaded the land with doctrines that are at variance with the goodnews of  the Gospel. I corith 10.12 states “wherefore, let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall”.
God is always shedding the light upon those that love him. He shows His Mercy upon the repentant and guides those that seek his refuge. Let noting keep you away from the only one that has the final say in your journey of life.
Your identity is in eternity and your home land is heaven indeed. So many worldly trapplings would real their ugly head but whoever sticks to God’s instructions will see the glory of God.
I want to use this medium to sympatize with the Okhucligbe family over the sudden exit of their son, my beloved cousin, Clement Okhueligbe, who passed on, on Tuesday July 21, 2015.
Your demise in a confirmation of the briefly of life which should be imbibed by all.
Remain blessed.
