` 6 UHOGUA – Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has promised to provide quality education, health care, adequate security and a bright future for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs’) from the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
At the camp in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State, Governor Oshiomhole, who was accompanied by his wife, Lara, assured the IDPs, who are mainly children, of a comfortable stay and a bright future in Edo State among which are building of a standard school with the posting of teachers to the school to ensure quality education for them in line with his administration’s policy and programmes for the people of the state.
Governor Oshiomhole, who interacted with the children in hausa dialects, promised to provide health care for them by ensuring doctors and nurses are deployed to the camp.
He specifically mention that two state Commissioners and six executive directors have been assigned to work towards the well-being the IDPs.
As my wife has said, these are our children now. I can see they came from many states. Kano, Jigawa, Borno and Adamawa. We have to do everything possible to ensure they are comfortable” the governor said.
On their education, he affirmed “We have a standard in school buildings in Edo. We are particularly concerned that no child is denied any quality education,” pointing out those bags of rice and other food stuffs will be sent to them.
According to the Governor, “we said it is better for their parents to come and see their children. We will make arrangement to re-unite them with their parents. Whatever has happened to these children is unfortunate.
To ensure that the camp is secured, Governor Oshiomhole asserted “we will ensure adequate security”, even as he told the operator of the International Christian Centre for Missions, Solomon Abumere Folorunsho, “if you have any challenge let us know”. He emphasized “I interacted with Mr. President. He is very concerned about the children. I think they are in good spirit and they are safe in Edo State.
The Governor, his wife, members of the State executive council, heads of some security agencies including the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi and other top government functionaries were conducted round various sections of the camp by the cleric operating the In ICC Mission camp, Solomon Abumere Folorunsho.
The children, who spokes in both hausa and English languages and highly excited by the visit of the Governor, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor and his wife Iara and prayed God to bless them In their words “Of course, It is a big thing, we have a big daddy like you“(Governor Oshiomhole).”
“Only God will meet you at the point of your need. We really thank him. Thank you daddy. God bless you” His Royal Highness, (Prince) Ekinoguaghen I Eresoyen.
In his remarks, the Enogie of Uhogua said “Thank God the Comrade has come to the camp. I know what he can do. He is the father of all. He loves children. The Governor coming to this place, I know he will take care of the children.”
The Enogie who thanked the governor for his visit to the camp, present a souvenir to the governor.
Also, speaking, Solomon Abumere Folorunsho said the centre had been established in Uhogua since 1992 and the children in it are about 1000 and he thanked the Governor for his visit and kind gesture.
