Yobe- The Police Authorities in Yobe State have declared one Anon Sylvester, wanted in connection with alleged murder of one Jubril Usman, a Muslim faithful.
Addressing newsmen in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), said that the alleged murder incident occured July 29, 2015, during a renewed Christians and Muslims religious crisis in Kakuwagari village in Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State.
He said that during the religious crisis, one Anon Sylvester, a middle aged man allegedly hit one Jubril Usman on his head when a fighter broke-out between supporters of the two religions.
The PPRO further stated that Jubril who sustained a head injury later died from the injury, this according to him angered the some muslim fateful who later unleashed terror on the inhabitants of Anon’s resident.
The police image-maker however, called on members of the public who may useful information that would lead to the arrest of the fleeing Anon Sylvester to contact any security formation in the country, assuring that such information would be treated in strict confidentiality.
Our investigation revealed that religious crisis betwwen Christians and Muslims had earlier occurred in 2009 in Golani as scores of people were reportedly killed in the deadly clash.
Speaking with our Crime Correspondent, a source who did not want her name mentioned over fear of being killed, said that whereabouts Anon Sylvester, has continued to cause apprehension and panic amongst inhabitants of a rescue camp in Yobe, where the christians were relocated to.
She disclosed that the recent religious crisis between Christians and Muslims where over 50 persons sustained various degree of injuries, and houses destroyed led to the creation of the rescue Camp by the state government.
It was gathered Anon Sylvester had earlier lost his father, a christian and Soldier during the crisis as he was allegedly killed while attempting to rescue his family members.
Speaking with our Crime Correspondent also, one of the leaders in the camp who craved for anonymity because he was not permitted to speak to the press on the incident said they have been in serious fear and panic since the disappearance of Anon
“The sudden disappearance of Anon Sylvester could not be unconnected with the Boko Haram infiltrated Muslim community vow to killing Anon when and wherever they set eyes on him”, he said.
