BENIN CITY- The Chairman of Edo State Inter-Ministerial Task Force, Engineer David Olukoga has advised members of the public to be watchful of illegal boys claiming to be task force officers in order not to fall victim.
Engineer Olukoga made this known after he received complaints   from the general public that some of the officers of the Inter -Ministerial committee assigned to control traffic and stop trading on the road of Benin Metropolis, were extorting money from the public.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Transport, Francisca Iyogan, made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER indicated that the boys in question  claim to be task force agents and extort money from the public.
The statement also explained that due to the illegal activities of the fake task force officers, members of the task force were called by the state Government from the street, so that they can be properly trained and the Inter-Ministerial Committee should be restructured and re-organised for a better service delivery.
The Government, the release said, has made task force officers go off the streets for two weeks to be properly trained.
It also emphasized that a monitoring team  was set up to check these illegal persons extorting money from the public.
In a related development, the statement disclosed that one Master Aiyegbemn Sunday was arrested at Ugbowo after being reported for having seized a vehicle and demanding thirty-five thousand Naira (N35,000) for its release.
On getting there, Master Aiyegbemn Sunday was caught extorting money from other defaulters.
