BENIN CITY  –  The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has extended the deadline for the registration of Taxpayers Identification Number (TIN) to Monday August 31, 2015.
To this end, the revenue agency urged eligible taxpayers, both individuals and corporate organizations in the formal/informal sectors to register and obtain the TIN on or before the stipulated deadline.
A release signed by the Executive Chairman of EIRS, Chief (Sir) Oseni Elamah, advised that failure to register for the TIN before the deadline will attract legal action in line with the TIN regulations 2014.
The statement pointed out  that the registration/insurance of TIN was free, urging taxpayers to visit the corporate   headquarters of  EIRS, 80 New Lagos Road, Benin City or other tax offices across the state for the TIN registration.
It stated further that it was mandatory for eligible taxpayers to obtain the TIN as it would  be applied in all documents relating to business transaction in the country.
