BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has approved Erhengbo Okoma Service (Nig) Limited as the haulage revenue collection contractor in Edo South Senatorial District.
The government’s approval was contained in a letter dated September 14, 2015 and signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Major Lawrence Loye (rtd), for the Honourable Commissioner.
The letter which was addressed to the Managing Director, Erhengbo Okoma Services (Nig) Limited, stated that the collection should be done on vehicles conveying goods from or to the state, adding that the rates to be applied must be in conformity with the tonnage of the vehicle as spelt out in Haulage Rates schedule.
It also noted that collection must be at the point of  loading or off-loading within the state while haulage vehicles (trucks) conveying minerals from quarries, borrow pits, etc, are to be exempted.
The letter further stated that tickets would be provided by the Ministry of Transport as contractors are not permitted to print theirs.
It further explained that vehicles loading and off-loading at market places, electronic sales points, building materials sales points, etc, are requested to pay the stipulated levies according to the tonnages.
Reacting to the approval, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Erhengbo Okoma Services (Nig) Ltd, Chief Sunny Erhengbo, expressed appreciation to the Edo State government for giving him and his team the opportunity to contribute to the economic development of the state.
Chief Erhengbo pledged to operate within the ambit of the law, and also to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him by the state government.
