BENIN CITY – There was confusion as residents wept and wailed uncontrollably over the gruesome murder of the wife of a political chieftain, simply identified as Mr. Agboga.
The incident which occurred on 10 September, 2015 in Adolor axis of Ugbowo, Egor local government area of Edo state threw sympathizers into pathetic mourning.
The deceased’s husband, Mr. Agboga who reported the matter at the police station allegedly linked the murder incident to one Onehiwazenan Lucas, accusing him of allegedly leading the suspected assassins to his resident where they killed his wife and left her in her pool of blood.
It was gathered that upon investigation, the police arrested Lucas for interrogation.
Lucas it was gathered denied all allegations and was reminded in prison custody where he developed complications and was hospitalized in a hospital where he managed to escape to unknown destination for cover and safety, even though it was confirmed that no exhibit was found in his house during the period of investigation.
It will be recalled that on the said fateful day, Lucas who was a student of Adolor college, Benin city, was returning from school when some unidentified persons accosted him and asked him about the resident of Mr. Agboga’s house which Lucas unaware of their mission obliged.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the hoodlums stormed Agboga’s house but was absent. The suspected assassins it was gathered did not waste time in raining bullets on the deceased killing her in process.
The police however confirmed the incident, saying though, Lucas was discharged on ‘no offence committed’, the police were still on trail of the prime suspects now at large.
