BENIN CITY- The Head of Service in Edo State, Mr. Jerry Obazele has described the state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as “one of the greatest activist against corruption” in Nigeria.
Mr. Obazele made the remark when he received on behalf of the state Governor, Muslims led by the Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, Mallam Abdul- Fatai Enabulele who came to pay the usual  Sallah homage to the Governor as part of activities to mark the  Eid –el- Kabir  festival in Benin City yesterday.
The Head of Service also emphasized that   Governor Oshiomhole has a passion of fighting against corruption.
Beside noting that religious leaders had always played a good role in good governance, Mr. Obazele commended Mallam Enabulele for frowning at corruption, especially as the Chief Imam recognized it as one of the evils in the society.
While thanking Mallam Enabulele and other religious leaders for ensuring peaceful and harmonious co-existence among their different religious adherents, the Head of Service thanked the Chief Imam for commending Governor Oshiomhole for the developmental projects executed across the state
He extended the season’s felicitations of the Governor and Deputy Governor to the Islamic faithful.
The Chief of Imam had explained that the central theme of the festival of sacrifice was basically meant to inculcate in Muslims, the spirit of total submission and loyalty to the will and command of Almighty Allah.
The Islamic cleric, who encouraged the faithful to uphold the moral virtues of honesty, sincerity, obedience, righteousness, submissiveness, loyalty and obedience also enjoined them to practice the concept of self- denial and make sacrifices to the benefit of others as well as exercise high level of patience, perseverance, tolerance and endurance in the face of difficult and problematic situations.
He urged them to use the celebration to re-examine themselves and gauge the level of their commitment to Allah.
Noting that corruption had permeated almost all sectors of the economy to cause poverty, unemployed, infrastructural decay, poor  education and health care facilities, Mallam Enabulele said that one major way through which corruption could be tackled in the country is to sanction corrupt officials and individuals as prescribed by the law of the land.
According to him, “all felows, no matter how highly or lowly placed, must be punished to serve as deterrence to others, especially as President Mohammadu Buhari is taking steps to set up the structure of his administration” and put an end to insurgency in Nigeria.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant Governor Oshiomhole and his team long life and good health so as to execute and complete all the good programmes he has for the state.
The Chief Imam also prayed for the repose of the soul of the mother of the Deputy Governor .
