BENIN CITY- Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has congratulated Muslims in the state on this year’s Sallah celebration, saying adherents of the faith in the state have shown that Islam is truly a religion of peace.

Addressing adherents of the Islamic faith who paid him a traditional Sallah visit, Thursday, the Governor said he was pleased that the prayers of Muslims for peace and progress in the state are being answered by Almighty Allah.

According to the Governor, “I am pleased to say Almighty Allah has continued to answer your prayers for me, the government and the entire state as the state remains peaceful and has continued to enjoy rapid progress in spite of the dwindling resources as a result of the low crude oil price.

“I am proud to announce to you, my brothers and sisters, that while some states find it hard to pay salaries of workers and some owe salaries running into months, in Edo, no worker is owed any salary and in addition to that, we are meeting our obligation to contractors working on various projects across the state.

“In fact, we have paid the salaries of workers for the month of September to enable our Muslim brothers enjoy their Sallah with their families.”
